Chinese Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli Meets with Construction Personnel for Vinh Tan 1

On the morning of July 18th, Chinese Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, met cordially with the construction personnel for Vinh Tan 1 BOT Coal-Fired 2×600MW Power Plant Project. Zhao Jianguo, Board Chairman of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. (CSG) and Wang Jianping, Chairman of Energy China were also present at the meeting.

Zhang expressed his sincere solicitude and good wishes to the project investor, EPC contractor, as well as the construction provider. He pointed out that the Chinese enterprises should complete the project with high standards and strict requirements, and deliver an environmentally friendly power plant with good quality and social benefits that could withstand the test of history. He called on the Chinese and Vietnamese participants in the project to cooperate sincerely and work closely, and to make efforts to ensure a successful delivery of the project. Zhang also encouraged them to make positive contributions to the friendship between China and Vietnam, by building a landmark project that conforms to the aspirations of the people in Vietnam and meets their needs.

Nguyen said Vinh Tan 1 is a key project of economic cooperation between the two countries and is essential to the welfare of the people in Vietnam. He required the local government to exert themselves to provide services in support of project execution, so as to complete the project as it is scheduled.

Vinh Tan 1 power plant project is the largest investment by Chinese enterprises in Vietnam, as well as the first plant constructed by Chinese enterprises in Vietnam under build-operate-transfer contract. The construction period of the plant is 4 year and the concession period of 25 year. At the end of the concession period, it will be transferred to the Vietnamese Government.
