The Delegation Led by Lyu Zexiang Visits Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo

On March 21 local time, Lyu Zexiang, General Manager of CGGC International and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, led a delegation to visit Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo in the Presidential Palace of Ghana. The parties had in-depth exchanges on further strengthening practical cooperation in such fields as water, power, renewable energy, transportation and civil explosion. Chief of General Office of the Presidential Palace, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Palace, Deputy Minister of Water Resources and General Manager of the Water Company were also present.

Lyu Zexiang extended the sincere thanks to the president and Government of Ghana for their great support. He noted that, as a core member enterprise of Energy China, a Fortune 500 company, CGGC has expanded its businesses to 142 countries and regions throughout the world and accumulated rich experience in international engineering. Keeping in strict line with the Belt and Road Initiative and International Cooperation on Production Capacity, CGGC always keeps expanding new growth points for international businesses in such fields as water, transportation, civil explosion and renewable energy, while continuously consolidating the leading position in hydropower sector, with remarkable achievements made.

According to Lyu Zexiang, Ghana is an important strategic market of CGGC and CGGC International always attaches great importance to the expansion of market and performance of key projects in Ghana. The Phase I Project of Kpong Water Supply Plant Expansion Project undertaken by CGGC International was put into production 6 months in advance, dramatically improving the water supply conditions in Accra, Capital of Ghana. The Project has won numerous honors such as Ghana’s National Water Resources Quality Project Award and China’s first batch of National Quality Engineering Award in 2018-2019 for its efficient and high-quality performance, and has been recommended by the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China as a “Model Project Representing the Belt and Road Cooperation”. As a platform for the international business development of Energy China and CGGC, CGGC International will give full play to its technical expertise, investment and financing advantages, proactively participate in the construction and investment of key livelihood projects in Ghana, and make contributions to promoting Ghana’s socio-economic development and improving the friendship between China and Ghana.

Warmly welcoming the delegation, President Nana Akufo-Addo highly praised the achievements made by CGGC in global market, and recognized the efficient operation of the Phase I Project of Kpong Water Supply Plant Expansion Project. He noted that China and Ghana have established long-standing friendship and made outstanding achievements in mutual cooperation. With abundant resources, Ghana is now of strong demand for energy infrastructure. The Government of Ghana invited excellent Chinese enterprises like CGGC to proactively participate in the investment and construction in such fields as water, power, renewable energy, traffic and civil explosion in Ghana to continuously improve the economic and trade cooperation between China and Ghana.


Northwest Africa Market Analysis Meeting

During the period, Lyu Zexiang also organized the Northwest Africa regional market analysis meeting in Accra, Capital of Ghana, and debriefed on the work reports of principals of 11 representative offices in the Northwest Africa. He noted that the Northwest Africa Regional Headquarters is a pilot base for CGGC to accelerate the forward movement of the market development, and highly recognized the achievements made in development. In the next stage, it is necessary to strengthen the business layout, business transformation and upgrading, and innovation in business models in this region, properly practice the overseas grass-roots party building, market expansion, promotion of key projects and risk prevention in strict line with the guiding principles of the Belt and Road Initiative and “1+4” development strategy, thus vigorously improving the effectiveness of regional market development.
